Digital Object Identifiers

The DOIs provide a way for the ADS resources to be cited in a similar fashion to traditional scholarly materials. More information on DOIs at the ADS can be found on our help page.

Dressel 21-22 fabric

Fabric Visual Characteristics

Hard, fairly rough, sandy fabric containing dark and white inclusions, light buff (between 10YR 8/4 to 7/3) in colour.

Fabric Petrological Characteristics

Thin sectioning shows grains of green or colourless augite, potash feldspar, volcanic rock fragments, a little quartz, limestone and flecks of mica. The petrology would support a source in Campania or Lazio, suggested by inscriptions (Peacock & Williams, 1986: Class 7).

Equivalent to: P&W AM 7 of the National Roman Fabric Reference Collection (Tomber & Dore, 1998: 88)
