Digital Object Identifiers

Visual characteristics

Usually ‘classic’ Beirut city fabric: hard orange brown to red brown. Irregular quartz grains are visible in a granular break. Surfaces can range from compact to rough sandy. However, some variants of the form are in a pale yellow, sandy fabric (Lebanese). The inner core is reddish brown (2.5YR 4/6) sandwiched between a red fabric (2.5YR 4/6).
