British Academy Research Grants: Archaeological Fieldwork and Post-Excavation Work

Grants are available to support all archaeological fieldwork, together with related general and scientific post-excavation work, including the costs of qualified research assistants. Grants are intended principally for archaeological excavation and work in the field.

Eligibility:

Applications are invited from individuals and organisations based in the United Kingdom and undertaking academic archaeological research. Grants are not available for the purpose of undertaking emergency rescue archaeology.

Level of grant:

Grants are available up to a limit of £10,000 in any one year. Please note that the average level of grant is considerably lower than £10,000.

Method of application and closing date:

Applications should be made on the Research Grant in Archaeology form, available from university research offices, or from the offices of the Academy at The British Academy, 20-21 Cornwall Terrace, London, NW1 4QP.
