British Academy Research Grants: Applied Science in Archaeology

Grants from this fund are intended to provide support for non-site-specific research proposals which involve the application of established scientific techniques, whether through provision of services of an identified specialist, or through access to certain existing Science-Based Archaeology Committee (SBAC) supported facilities, for radiocarbon dating, lead isotope analysis or electron microscopy. This fund is not intended as an adjunct to site-specific post-excavation costs, for which funding should be sought under the Archaeological Fieldwork and Post-Excavation Work scheme.

Eligibility:

Applications are invited from archaeologists, archaeological scientists and archaeological conservators resident in the United Kingdom

Level of grant:

Grants are available up to a limit of £10,000 in any one year.

Method of application and closing date:

Applications should be made on the Applied Science in Archaeology form, available from university research offices, or from the offices of the Academy at The British Academy, 20-21 Cornwall Terrace, London, NW1 4QP. Tel: 0171 487-5966 Fax: 0171 224-3897 or by email.
