Introduction

Chiltern Hills Golf Course, Chorleywood, Buckinghamshire. Archaeological Watching Brief (OASIS ID: cotswold2-262665)

In February 2015, Cotswold Archaeology carried out an archaeological watching brief at Chiltern Hills Golf Course, Chorleywood, Buckinghamshire. The fieldwork was undertaken to fulfil a condition attached to planning consent for ground-disturbing works associated with the construction of a winter storage lake.

Although no known buried archaeological remains have previously been identified within the construction footprint of the winter storage lake, the wider area is rich in archaeological remains relating to prehistoric settlement.

Despite the archaeological potential of the area, no features or deposits of archaeological interest were observed during groundworks, and no artefactual material pre-dating the modern period was recovered.
