Introduction

Flood Alleviation Works at Southwell Racecourse, Rolleston, Nottinghamshire. Archaeological Watching Brief (OASIS ID: cotswold2-288067)

An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology between October 2016 and February 2017 during flood alleviation works at Southwell Racecourse, Rolleston, Nottinghamshire.

Geological deposits of Pleistocene and Holocene date were recorded but no features or deposits of archaeological origin or significance were observed during the watching brief. Extensive modern deposits were present in some areas, and no artefactual material pre-dating the modern period was recovered.
