An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in June 2016 at Land at Wavendon, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. Thirty-eight trenches were excavated. In discussion with Nick Crank during the site visit on the 9th June the additional trench in the proposed access area to the north-west of the site was removed from this phase of works; as were Trenches 39-44 in the south-eastern field belonging to the Wavendon Foundation. In view of the generally negative results of the evaluation, and subject to the development proposals for the site, it was agreed that these trenches may not require subsequent investigation.
Two small concentrations of undated archaeology in the forms of pits and ditches were found in trench 1 and across trenches 17 and 18; all were undated producing no finds. Agricultural furrows, as indicated by the geophysical survey, survived across the site with the preservation being greater in the southern portion of the site.
