Introduction

The database of Prehistoric and Romano-British Kimmeridge Shale was submitted to the University of London in 1995 as part of a PhD thesis by G. T. Denford.

The Attribute table catalogues over 3000 artefacts made from Kimmeridge Shale. The Bibliographic table lists references to these artefacts. The support documentation (see overview) describes the field names within the Attribute table and their meaning in relation to specific artefact types. This documentation also provides a survey of past literature relating to Kimmeridge Shale.

The database is available for download as comma delimited text which can then be imported into most database packages. The support documentation can also be downloaded and is necessary to make use of the data.
