Type 23 pillbox, rectangular with an open anti-aircraft section. The infantry section has three embrasures. The anti-aircraft section has a concrete plinth with an upright metal pipe mounted on it for fixing a machine gun in the anti-aircraft role. This is an important structure as type 23 pillboxes are very rare in Essex.
