Pillbox, of an irregular hexagon, with an entrance porch open to the W at the seaward side. Embrasures close to the ground surface, probably due to increase in surface level owing to windblown sand. Some embrasures now blocked. Water in entrance way making access difficult.

Pillbox 23, according to documentary source and Royal Fusiliers' WW2 map. Built into the interior of a Civil War gun battery whose rampart rises to the base of the pillbox embrasures on the W side. Hexagonal plan and concrete block walling. Square embrasures. Scheduled as SM 15532, AI 147182, with the Civil War battery as AI 147239.
