Very unusual concrete caltrops (2) [portable anti-tank obstacles made of iron and concrete in the form of an anti-cavalry metal caltrop] still positioned by the side of the road. One stands on a concrete pull-off to a field and the other is embedded in a hedge. They are the survivors of some 10-14 such caltrops at this spot, the remains of a roadblock. The recorder recalls these defences as an evacuee child during the war, and has paid visits there since.
