Pillbox type known as the 'Surrey drum', being a type 24 on the inside, having a straight rear face with 2 rear embrasures and an entrance consistent with a type 29, but round on the sections that would make up the 5 sides of a type 24, giving the plan of a medieval drum tower. 27 of these structures were built by Mowlems between Farncombe and Chilworth Manor. This particular pillbox has embrasures set at differing heights.
