Elevated two-storey octagonal pillbox. It has a concrete base and ground floor level and brick first floor. There is a concrete roof with a circular brick parapet on it [possibly an AA position]. External steps to first floor. Evidence of blast wall on door, no longer present. Bevelled embrasures with concrete lintels and concrete door frame. Positioned on N side of canal bridge, opposite a former bomb shelter. The embrasures overlook canal and approaches. The site is now converted for use as a gate house to control bridge raising and lowering.
