An unusual pillbox in that it is built into the garden wall of Woodsford Castle. It has 3 embrasures in the 11ft square structure. These face S (towards Warmwell Airfield), E and W, with its entrance being from the rear (N) inside the walled garden. The middle embrasure is 24ins wide at both the inside and outside faces but only 13ins at the 'throat'. At that point it is one brick in width. The other two embrasures are positioned in the corners and are 10ins inside and 16ins at the outside. The walls are of brick construction, some 20ins thick. Unfortunately, the W wall (outer part) has fallen away exposing the inside. It has a shuttered concrete roof with smooth concrete floor.
