The former cotton textile warehouse was built in c1857, probably for calico printer Edmund Potter, and designed by the Manchester architect Edward Walters. The building is a fine example of the numerous cotton warehouses built in this part of the city during the 19th century, designed in Italianate style. It was adapted for office use in the early 20th century and has been vacant for several years. The building is Listed Grade II and in the George Street conservation area.

Hope Chapel is a good example of an early 19th century Nonconformist chapel; it was built by a Baptist congregation in 1810, and opened in 1811. The building was altered and extended in several phases, particularly in 1848 when the chapel was enlarged to the south and the interior re-fitted. The parson's house was built in c1810 and enlarged in 1887 and remodelled in 2019-20. The chapel is listed Grade II*, largely as it retains a complete mid 19th century galleried interior and fittings. There is a burial ground to the front, where ledger stones are laid flat. The chapel closed in 2019 and is now empty, awaiting a new use.

The church was built in 1869-1873, to a design by architects W and G Audsley of Liverpool, for the owner of Ellel Grange, Alderman William Preston, a distiller and merchant. By the late 20th century the building had become redundant as a place of worship, and gradually deteriorated. The pews, liturgical fittings, stained glass, tiled floor and internal joinery had been removed by late 20th century. Historic photographs show the building interior before the losses. The building is a Grade II* listed building; this reflects its outstanding national importance as a fine example of a Victorian gothic revival church, built for an estate by well-regarded architects. The church has high significance for architectural and historic value but this significance is at risk due to the poor condition of the building. Its architectural value has been damaged by the loss of the internal fittings and the stained glass, but the building still has a strong presence. Communal value is medium as the building is on private land and is not accessible or in use, although it may be important to people who once worshipped here. Evidential value is low; the HER for Lancashire was consulted but contains no information about the site, apart from the listing and at risk entries. The Building is owned by Ellel Ministries and is currently on the Historic England At Risk Register, in the highest category A.

Oakwood Hall was built in 1844-45 for Ormerod Heyworth, the owner of Oakwood Mill, built in the 1830s. The house was built on a dramatic site overlooking the Goyt valley, separated from the mill by the Peak Forest Canal. The gothic revival style house was designed by Manchester architect Edward Walters, with a large stable block (demolished) to the north and a gothic-style lodge and bridge (over the canal) to the east. The hall was set in landscaped grounds, by an unknown designer. The hall was a listed building until it was removed from the List due to partial demolition following fire damage in the late 20th century. It is now an undesignated heritage asset, and the bridge is listed Grade II. .

The Grade I listed church dates from at least the 12th century, from the evidence of the Romanesque north doorway, north arcade and west walls. Other elements are of c1200 or c1300, and the outer walls and clerestory were largely rebuilt in the 15th or early 16th century. From 1335 until the Dissolution the living of the church was held by Coverham Abbey, and afterwards by Trinity College, Cambridge. Plans for a major restoration and re-ordering in 1858-88 were provided by Paley and Austin; almost all the fittings date from this phase, along with the roof structure. The south chapel was restored in 1920. The parish room in the south aisle was installed in 1983. The altar has been on a forward platform since 2012. The church has a good collection of late C19 stained glass and memorials from the C17-C20.

Documentary research including Cumbria Archives, fieldwork and building assessment, written report An Augustinian priory was founded at Cartmel by William Marshall, Earl of Pembroke in c1189. Primary phase fabric from the first building campaign (c1189-1219) survives in the choir, the crossing, Piper Choir and transepts, where architectural features are typical of the transition from Romanesque to Early Gothic/Early English. The nave, upper stage of the tower, north and south aisles, the Town Choir, great east window and other windows are part of later gothic pre-Dissolution phases. At the Dissolution, in 1537, local people acquired the church as their parish church, which preserved interior fittings. No monastic buildings survive apart from a gatehouse (and some areas of archaeology in the village are scheduled). Important C17 fittings include the choir screens and canopies. Paley & Austin re-ordered the nave in 1867. There are knowledge gaps on the extent of monastic buildings and the location of a cloister.

The former farm building, known as the Homestead Barn at Biggin, was built in the late 19th century, at an unknown date between 1878 and c1898. It appears to have been built for a cattle-raising and dairy operation run from The Old Homestead, a small farm in Biggin. The building was built in a single phase, arranged on an L-plan, with cow houses, fodder storage, stabling and lofts, as described in 1920 sale particulars when it was attached to a small tenanted farm of 20 acres known as The Old Homestead. By the 1960s, agricultural use had ceased and the farm building was used for storage in connection with the adjoining Barlow and Hodgkinson's haulage depot. The loft floors were removed from all areas apart from the south end of the east range and all cowhouse and stable fittings were removed. Doorways were partly blocked and new glazing installed. A cart shed door was raised to create a full-height opening at the west end of the north range. A flat-roofed extension was built on the west front of the north-south range in the 1960s, to store spare lorry parts; in 2017 this was partly rebuilt after a fire in c.2013. Planning permission for conversion for holiday letting was approved in 2019. The building is a non-designated heritage asset, a good example of White Peak farm building in the Peak District National Park.

Whitelee Farm is a farmstead in the south-west area of the Peak District, near Wincle (in Cheshire). The farmhouse is a Grade II listed building, built in the 17th century and extended in the 19th century, with the farm yard located to its north-west. The current historic farm buildings are not complete, but appear to date from the early 19th century, representing a rebuilding of the farmstead in the industrial period. They form an open-sided yard facing south; the farm buildings that are the subject of this report comprise the north range of the group. Building 1 is a 3-bay open-fronted barn on the south side of the north range and Building 2 is a single-storey cow house attached to the north side of Building 1. Prior to alterations in 1987, the farm buildings consisted of ranges to the west, north and east; the west range was demolished inn 1987 and the south side of the north range was largely rebuilt to form the present single-storey barn, open to the south (Building 1).
