Geophysical Survey Report: Cranbrook Street, Nottingham
T Richardson
A project which aimed to locate the 12th century town ditch of Nottingham, which is believed to be under Cranbrook Street. A Ground Penetrating Radar survey was undertaken during the course of two nights in May 2015 to locate the ditch, and to identify any caves that may be present in the survey area. The survey area consisted of the pavements and highway of that part of Cranbrook Street between its junctions with Goose Gate/Hockley and Brightmoor Street. The survey failed to identify the ditch or any features of archaeological interest. This was attributed to features in the construction of the highway and pavements. The project was funded by Historic England as an NHPP Supporting Project. It was managed by Scott Lomax, with the GPR survey undertaken by Stratascan.
