Historic Building Record: 1 Moor Lane, Clitheroe, Lancashire, BB7 1BE
M Fish
Level 3 programme of historic building recording and analysis of 1 Moor Lane, Clitheroe. The building is grade II listed and is located within the Clitheroe Town Centre Conservation Area. The programme of recording was required as a result of unauthorised building works to the building. It was constructed between 1822 and 1842 as a commercial property and subsequently underwent a process of development / extension between 1849 and 1866 to form the existing tripartite plan form arrangement. The building also contained associated habitable rooms for the occupants of the building. The building essentially survives as a masonry 'shell' as a result of historic and more recent incremental changes made over time which is likely to have resulted in the removal of historical and architectural features from the building but with the plan form arrangement remaining interpretable.
