Abstract: |
Croft Castle is a Norman Motte, one of two Norman earthworks in the Village of Winkleigh. The (Jubilee) Village Hall was built in 1935 within the monument. A watching brief was carried out by ACE Archaeology Club, for the Winkleigh Village Hall Committee as part of their Scheduled Monument Consent for the widening and relaying of a path to the Village Hall. This work was needed to enable the Hall to comply with DDA requirements. |
