Abstract:
Although no archaeological were known on the proposed site of a housing development, desk-based assessment showed that a Neolithic stone axe, metal artifacts of Bronze Age and Anglo-Saxon date, a Roman coin and medieval pottery had been previously recovered in the surrounding area. An Early Iron Age timber causeway/jetty had also been excavated nearby in 1981and. A study of aerial photographs also identified two possible barrows close to the site. [AIP]
