Abstract:		 Two trial trenches were excavated to the rear of the Church of St. Mary and St. Romuald. The trenches were excavated to a depth of 1m. This revealed various layers of pre-deposited natural and dumped material dating to the 19th century. They are interpreted as levelling layers associated with the construction of the adjacent church which opened in 1860. There were no earlier finds or features of archaeological interest.
