Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the construction of an extension to the existing bungalow at 56 Main Road, Toynton All Saints. Previous archaeological in the vicinity indicated a potential for remains associated with medieval and post-medieval pottery production. A linear feature (interpreted as a ditch) containing pottery similar to Toynton-type ware found in mid 13th to mid 14th century deposits in Boston, was recorded in one of the foundation trenches. A large assemblage of unstratified pottery dated mainly as late 13th to 15th century, but including mid 15th to 16th century material, was recovered from the site. |
