Abstract:		 A watching brief was undertaken on the site of the former Mill Inn, Westgate Road in advamce of development. This was requested due to the close proximity of the site to the line of Hadrian's Wall. No archaeological features were uncovered and it is thought than they are likely to have been removed during the construction of the Mill Inn itself.
