Abstract:		 An Archaeological Evaluation trench was excavated at Dovecote Barn, Chyngton Lane, Seaford in advance of the construction of a new house at the site. A previous desk-based assessment had identified the site to be situated in the area of a large pond, which had probably been in-filled between 1910 and 1927. The excavation located the pond which had a clay lining. All of the artefacts recovered dated from the late 19th to early 20th century which corresponded with its later use and final infilling.
