Abstract: |
<summary>Three evaluation trenches were excavated in advance of mineral extraction in an area where geophysical survey had identified potential archaeological anomalies. A number of ditches representing part of a field system associated with a settlement excavated to the north-west of the development area in 1986-87, or an eastern continuation of the settlement, were revealed; the features identified were thought to relate to late Iron Age/early Romano-British activity, and iron slag, fragments of coarsely-tempered pottery, one horse's tooth and part of a pig's scapula were recovered. {italon}AIP{italoff} |
