Abstract:		 In August 2003 North Pennines Heritage Trust was commissioned by W S Atkins to carry out a watching brief during the excavation of a number of test trenches on land adjacent to Blenkinsopp Castle, Haltwhistle, Northumberland. No features of archaeological note were observed in any of the trenches, strongly suggesting that any medieval occupation related to the Blenkinsopp Castle did not extend into this area.
