The abstract describing the content of the publication or report
Abstract:		 The proposed development of the mill entails the conversion and partial demolition of the existing mill building to form five dwellings. The present multi-phase building started as a water-powered flax-spinning mill during the 1820s. By the late 19th century the flax mill had diversified into spinning rope from hemp and a corn mill was built onto the north-west corner. Both mills were destroyed by fire and largely rebuilt during the early/mid 20th century. Many original features, were destroyed leaving standing walls form the former buildings. The principal interest of the mill is in the sequence of power generation and transmission which largely remains in situ, and is located in the original flax mill's basement and sub-basement level. The work of the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England (RCHME) in the 1980s and 90s has provided detailed baseline information that this assessment has built upon.
