Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was maintained on the groundworks for a new detached residential dwelling comprising ground reduction and the excavation of new foundations. This watching brief did not identify any archaeological activity or finds associated with the medieval and post-medieval settlements of Donington. The watching brief did identify a simple deposit sequence comprising a modern topsoil horizon, a buried soil horizon of probable garden and cultivation soils of probable medieval and post-medieval date and an underlying natural horizon of marine alluvium. |
