Abstract:
An archaeological desk based assessment of a proposed extension to Long Ashes Caravan Park near Threshfield. The assessment established heritage assets within the study area and identified predicted effects (including upon the setting of designated assets). Information sources included the Yorkshire Dales HER, NMR and record office for published, photographic and cartographic data, and a site walkover inspection. Lynchets of medieval date and stone field walls of post-medieval date were identified within the development area, and an enclosed hut circle settlement (scheduled), field system and banks of Iron Age date, medieval field system and lime kiln of post-medieval date recorded in the immediate vicinity. Geophysical survey and measured earthwork survey proposed (which subsequently undertaken by GSB and EDAS respectively).
