Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was carried out within the former garden area of Aldington Lodge and paddocks to the north, land previously used as an orchard. Trenches were position to target linear and discrete geophysical anomalies (magnetometry). Linear features in the northern part of the site were found to comprise a series of 'v' shaped ditches, one of which contained a fragment of possible Early to Middle Iron Age pot. Tree throws from removed orchard trees were common. No significant archaeological remains were seen in the southern part of the site. |
