Abstract: |
A watching brief was mounted on the hand excavation off new services in the rear garden of the Old Vicarage. The site lay within the scheduled Roman settlement of Caistor. The watching brief identified a modern imported topsoil, a 19th century yard surface, a modern made ground deposit, garden soils of post-medieval-modern date, possible buried medieval soils and a possible demolition deposit, a make up deposit, and a floor of rammed chalk or a short section of possible wail foundation of Roman date. There were no finds. |
