Abstract:		 Herefordshire Archaeology on behalf of the Wye Valley ANOB/Forest Enterprise undertook a condition assessment of the New Weir Ironworks, Symonds Yat West, in order to interpret the remains and form the basis of their future management. This involved assessing current condition, making basic management recommendations and identifying parts of the site that require input from a conservation architect. Structures recorded within the wood show a steady progression from a medieval field system, to early Post-medieval woodland, and lastly as a major industrial site in the Victorian period.
