Abstract:		 As the result of an archaeological condition on the planning permission for the construction of an extension to Thatch Cottage, Cottered, Herts, the Heritage Network was commissioned by Mr and Mrs Makin to monitor and record the groundworks. Despite its proximity to the medieval parish church, groundworks on the site revealed no features pre-dating the modern period. Indeed, the only feature revealed was a possible garden path.
