Abstract: |
The present site is located close to the original line of the Roman road known as Ermine Street in an area of possible prehistoric activity following a fieldwalking survey. Seven evaluation trenches were opened, revealing a series of plough marks and land drains at the northern end of the site. Two archaeological features were identified, a linear ditch, aligned north-north-east to south-south-west, which was apparently backfilled in the post-medieval period, and a single undated post hole. |
