Abstract: |
Following a planning application to convert a Grade II Listed warehouse a programme of archaeological recording was carried out. Documentary evidence shows that the building was constructed between 1832 and 1852 and that it was initially utlised by the adjoining public house before being occupied by a number of merchants. The building had retained many original features such as the hoist mechanism and two fireplaces and showed evidence for five phases of alteration most of which were connected to changes in use at different times. |
