Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief by Geoff Potter of Compass Archaeology revealed no archaeological remains. An existing yard surface and make-up deposits overlay recent reworked subsoil and the shallow foundations of terraced houses that stood on the site between c. 1900-1940. Occasional deeper intrusions probably relate to previous 19th century garden use. Natural deposits were exposed at a depth of c. 0.3m to 0.5m with a layer of firm sandy silt and scattered gravel. This was about 0.4m thick and sealed a mixed silty sandy gravel that was identified as the Kempton Park River Terrace. |
