Digital Object Identifiers

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are persistent identifiers which can be used to consistently and accurately reference digital objects and/or content. The DOIs provide a way for the ADS resources to be cited in a similar fashion to traditional scholarly materials. More information on DOIs at the ADS can be found on our help page.

Introduction

Stone Roundhouse (1) during excavation
Stone Roundhouse (1) during excavation

These downloads accompany Purbeck Papers, a University of Southampton Department of Archaeology monograph edited by David A. Hinton (note: the monograph itself is not online). Presented are colour Photographs of a major excavation undertaken by the Department. The captions with these are intended to give enough information for the pictures to be understood, but cannot present the whole history and interpretation of the site).

The Tables section gives details of the objects and environmental data found, and reduce the cost of conventional printing, but are not intended to be used without the printed report.

Access is also provided to otherwise inaccessible Appendices that accompany the second paper in the monograph, which is a study of the medieval economy and society of Purbeck. These give further information on the parishes, their constituent estates and the people who lived on and made their living from them.
