Further Information: The Agglestone was until recently a type of pedestal rock, which has since fallen towards the south-east. It is an anvil-shaped block of Agglestone Grit about 400-500 tons in weight perched on a conical hill (West 2004). The Puckstone nearby is also of this material, in addition to pieces of this hard irony sandstone which litter Studland Heath and have been used for local building purposes.
