Further Information: Situated on the sea cliff, Seacombe Quarry is known to have been worked for the last 100 years, and may well have been worked as far back as the 17th century. Purbeck-Portland was also known as 'Seacombe Stone' from this quarry. It is bluish grey when fresh, but assumes a pale yellow tint on drying.
