Although a very serviceable rock, the breccia was impossible to carve and mould so finer masonry work was not considered (Scard 1990: 31). It was used as building material (usually rubblestone walling with amble applications of mortar) on a number of farms and cottages in the district, in addition to its use in church construction and restoration (Scard 1990: 80 - 81). |
