General Comments:

Alveley Stone was quarried during the 19th century and may well have been popular even as far back as the 18th century. It was a tough, good quality stone which was exploited as one of Shropshire's main commercial stones until well into the 20th century (Scard 1990: 40).

Known Quarries: Hexton's Farm Quarry, Alveley,
Alveley Quarry, Alveley.
