Usage

General Comments:

It was regarded as an excellent building stone, used structurally by the Romans for Hadrians Wall and for the piers of the bridge that spanned North Tyne (Watson 1911: 119). It was also utilised by masons, for example the Memorial Cross to Caedmon at Whitby.
