General Colour Description:

Two distinct shades are available, the first is grey with a slightly bluish tinge (marketed as 'Light Sea Green') the other is greenish-grey, known as 'Olive Green' (Clifton-Taylor & Simmons 1987: 161).

Hand Specimen Description:

A medium grained, very hard stone which is moderately well sorted with a rough feel.

General Comments:

This stone was originally a tuff, a volcanic ash deposit, it was subsequently metamorphosed to form a 'meta-tuff' slate.

Stone Identifiers: Foliated.
