General Colour Description:

Pale cream/buff to light brown in colour with occasional blue patches. This stone darkens when polished. It also yields harder 'blue hearted' blocks which weather to a greyish colour. Interestingly these blue hearted blocks are often regarded as flawed but they can be more durable than the cream coloured stone.

Hand Specimen Description:

A fine to medium grained oolitic limestone with occasional shell fragments. The limestone may be coarsely shelly, peloidal or oolitic in character depending on the beds being worked (Lott 2001: 115).
