General Colour Description:

Mottled grey/green colour, the stone is coarsely graded into broad bands containing angular rock fragments. There is no developed cleavage (Hart 1991: 22).

Hand Specimen Description:

A hard, coarse, moderately well sorted volcanic tuff with a hackly fracture.

General Comments:

This stone was originally a tuff, a volcanic ash deposit, it was subsequently metamorphosed to form a 'meta-tuff' slate.

Stone Identifiers: Foliated.
