General Colour Description:

A grey/green colour (a greener effect is obtained by polishing). Occasionally white veins of spar are present (Hart 1991: 32). Two types are currently sold: Kirkstone 'Sea Green' and Kirkstone 'Silver Green'.

Hand Specimen Description:

A hard, moderately well sorted, medium grained volcanic tuff.

General Comments:

This stone was originally a tuff, a volcanic ash deposit, it was subsequently metamorphosed to form a 'meta-tuff' slate.

Stone Identifiers: Foliated.
Reacts dilute to HCl? No
