General Colour Description:

Two types can be found on Leckhampton Hill, a cream coloured stone and a orange and brown coloured stone which is more shelly in composition.

Hand Specimen Description:

Our sample is a hard, moderately well sorted, fine to medium grained, oolitic limestone. Two different rock specimens can be worked from the same quarry, the first is a fine grained oolite similar to Painswick Stone, and the other is the 'Weather Bed', a tough grained ferruginous oolite (Watson 1911: 168).
