General Comments: |
Pits Copse, west of Lodsworth appears to be the area were this stone was quarried. Today it is a series of well preserved mounds and hollows sometimes with very steep slopes. This quarry supplied Iron Age and Roman quernstones and its heyday appears to have been during the 1st century AD (Peacock 1987: 63). |
