General Comments:

'Devonian marble' is a term used to cover a range of Middle Devonian limestones which have been deformed by earth movements so that the corals appear elongated, but the fossil content has not been totally destroyed. Devonian limestones are partly metamorphosed and for this reason some architectural authorities classify them as marble (Dove 1994: 25).
