General Colour Description: | Two types can be found, 'Fawn' a light fawn/dark cream coloured stone without much veining, and a darker variety, a light mottled brown coloured stone known as 'Mottled', which is marked and veined with purple and brown (Lee 1888: 33). Fossils are visible in polished examples. |

Hand Specimen Description: | A very hard, moderately well sorted, medium grained, compact limestone with occasional flecks of crystals. Some examples are slightly fossiliferous and the fossil content may vary. |
