Metal plate attached to stone post, Military Road plate design, erected by Carlisle & Temon (Military Road) turnpike trust, 19th century. Inscription reads: // TO NEW / CASTLE / 46 / MILES //TO CAR / LISLE / 10 / MILES //WILLIAM TOWLER / GLOBE FOUNDRY / - LEEDS - //. Grade II listed by Historic England.
